White Screen In QT & MPEG Streamclip!

Hiya,

I'm new to all this Video stuff so any help would be much appreciated! I have a problem where QT-7 and MPEG Streamclip will not play the video of an AVI file, it plays the audio but not the video there is just a blank screen.

Here's what I've done so far; PS3 plugged into EasyCap - AMCap 9.02 records to an AVI file - AVI file plays in WMP, WMM and Nero 3 but not QT or MPEG Streamclip. When I open the file in Avidemux it plays and under file/properties it says "codec 4CC YUY2. I assume that I do not have the right codec in QT to play the video but am unsure.

QT, along with its "gang", is picky. I have never figured it out. As well, it seems to live off hacks to be worth using.

Does it ask you to download additional software? Is so, then do so. If not, then forget it and use VLC instead.

I do try and keep QT compatibility, particularly whenever I need to encode something to H.264 and want a sense of "universal-ness" to it, but still will never use QT to actually play the file.

And you're better off installing ffdshow, or even the DivX/Xvid codec (particularly since they render YU12 very fast) instead for most AVI playback.

Can I use ffdshow or DivX/Xvid in QT and MPEG Streamclip, or is there a free codec that I can download and use in QT-7/MPEG Streamclip that will read YUY2?
