    Greetings, silver surfer here.
Firstly ,many thanks to all on this site as i have already learnt many things.

I am using Fairuse wizard to back up my dvd collection to external H/D.
(thanks to the info on this forum)
then watching through my ps3 via usb cable.

Everything upscales on my tv nicely and i no longer have to keep getting up to change dvds (Arthritis)

My question to you all is.....

Whilst i am backing up using 700mb and divx settings on fairuse,,i get a little lost with the option of file size,
    i.e. 640 x 480 ect
I would like to know your suggestions on the best settings and size for me to use for watching via my ps3.

Sadly i have nothing to offer this forum in advice,as my experience is limited, but very much appreciate any help.

    Cheers Norman

If you don't need a target file size then use Constant Quality/Quantizer encoding and set the Quantizer to 3. And you can use highest possible resolution like between 720-670 x XXX.

I would suggest you look at H264 encoding. It does take longer, but you aren't restricted to the 720 width as you are with Divx, and can get higher quality in the same file sizes. Encode to around 1 GB with 844 width and still get far better quality than a 720 wide divx file at the same size. The PS3 happily plays mp4 if encoded correctly. I haven't played enough with FUW to know if it has templates for the PS3, but Xvid4PSP certainly does.
