  1. My USB external HD makes the speaker noise that it is connected, but it doesn't show up under my computer?

Didn't want to Format It if I didn't have to.

    Thanks

What brand of USB drive? A commercial model like Free agent or My Book? Or just a hard drive in an external case? A bare hard drive isn't pre-partitioned or formated, but a commercial model in a case usually is, in FAT32 format.

You might try a different USB socket. What operating system are you using? What are your computer details? Have you tried the drive on a different computer?

You are unlikely to get many answers unless you supply more information.

First place to look in Windows is under Disk Management. Right-click My Computer and select Manage. Disk Management is in the tree to the left. Click on this and see if your drive turns up. If it is there, look to see if the drive letter clashes with another drive. This happens especially on networked machines that have mapped network drives and shares. If it does, right-click on the USB drive and select Change Drive Letter and Paths and give it a letter that isn't being used.

If the disc is not listed there you might consider removing the USB devices under Device Manager, then rebooting the PC to reinstall them.
