  1. Hello there

I have a medium size disk collection that I have ripped to HD. This was done a couple of years ago. During the process, some disks had bad tracks that did not fully copy, or not at all. I made notes as I went, but my goal was to get as much into the computer as possible as quickly as possible.

I have since moved and lost my notes.....

Is there an organization tool that can look at each album rip and indentify if the number of tracks is correct based on one the databases that they use, and identify which are bad or missing using running times or something similar?

Also, I am afraid that in a few cases the tracks might have been mis-labeled due to running one of the tag fixing programs that named the tracks in order, which produces errors when tracks are missing.....

I know there are numerous programs that will look at tracks and fix metadata, and I will run another (recommendations?), but I also really want to automate the process of finding my missing or mis-labeled tracks.

I am happy to pay for a reasonably priced program that can address my needs, but I don't want to have to download tag fixer after tag fixer to try and find one that can do what I need.

Thanks for any help or insights,

I use WinAmp for most of my music and tagging needs. I keep all my music in a couple of big folders, so IDK about directories. Sounds like a real pain to me.

Roxio Creator 2009 and Magix MP3 14 both claim to be able to compare music files with a database to figure out what tags might be appropriate. Haven't tried either.

Well since I just installed Roxio I tried it on one album. It worked despite the files being damaged from a memory problem I had a while back. Despite the other problem that parts of the suite aren't working right. Maybe if I didn't have Nero 6 as well. It uses the Gracenote database.

Now to try on something really hard. The Goonshow.

Well, that was asking for too much. It only got one out five right. The Treasure in the Lake was identified somehow as both The Goon Show AND the Beatles. Neat trick that. I am not going to keep those results.

I can only barely recognize Spike Milligan myself. I think I just spotted Peter Sellers voice. Don't know any of the others.
