    how would i capture bits and pieces off a stream (wmv)? i know how to capture the full stream, but its too big.. 2hrs, i just want to skim to the part and capture the 2 min clip i need. is this posisble? what software can achieve this? thanks!

  2. You could use a screen recorder, like camtasia studio . Camstudio is a free version, but it might not work as well or have as many options

    just tried that didnt work too well.. slow, choppy capture when i choose region (to resize the box), if i leave the capture at 320x240 its ok... but the stream is at 640x480. oh well i'll just record the whole thing with VLC and then cut it up.

  4. With camtasia studio, you can change the recording options. E.g. the default is 15fps so that might be choppy.

    Also if your PC is old/ too slow, it might drop frames during recording

    actually with VLC you can skim through the stream and it records great! didnt know that.
