    Hi all,

I'm trying to install VirtualDub (1.8.6) with Deshaker plugin (2.4) on my mom's Windows Vista computer. VirtualDub is copied into the C:\Program Files\VirtualDub folder, and the Deshaker plugin in C:\Program Files\VirtualDub\Plugins.

However, when opening the filters dialog in VirtualDub, there is no Deshaker plugin listed. And trying to load it manually, I get the following error message:

Cannot load plugin module "C:\Program Files\VirtualDub\Plugins\Deshaker.vdf": The application has failed to start because it's side-by-side configuration is incorrect. Please see the application event log for more detail.
(I realize now, that I forgot the check the event log.) But I can't find any references to this error on internet. I've turned off UAC in the hopes that would help, but it didn't. I've also tried loading the plugin from her "My Documents" folder, but that gave the same error message (but with the My Document path, of course).

Does anybody have any idea what the problem is here?

    Thanks, Peter

Did you check this. It is from download web site.

Download Deshaker and place Deshaker.vdf under the VirtualDub plugins directory and restart VirtualDub.

Important: If VirtualDub reports an error or if it can't load Deshaker correctly, you're most likely missing some required files. In that case, simply install the Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 SP1 Redistributable Package.
I guess this pack is for XP so you may have to find one for Vista, if it exist.

Exact same problem here. Installing the MSVC++ Redistributable did indeed solve the problem. Thanks tinker!
