Sony players aren't known to be easily hacked. They typically support region free or they don't. The ones that don't usually cannot be hacked and the few that can be hacked require special hardware for the process. They don't use simple remote codes.

A quick google search didn't turn up any information. It doesn't appear this unit can be hacked (region free).

On my opinion, Sony DAVHDX576WF is a great product to buy, it has 5.1 surround sound, good AM/FM tuner, multi formats DVD/CD player which can play music and image files, Docking station for MP3 player, and the main unit can control most MP3 player functions.
