Although I have done some research on this question (after all, I found these VIDEOHelp fora, didn't I?), I am very new at this and would sincerely appreciate appropriate guidance.
I have downloaded a DVD (well, I have downloaded the .nfo, .par2, and .rar files. that when properly processed should reconstruct a DVD). I have dutifully, Quick-Pared and WinRARed the downloaded files and I now have a folder on my laptop which contains two folders ... an empty AUDIO_TS folder and a not-empty VIDEO_TS folder. At the moment I am not interested in burning a copy of the downloaded DVD, just in playing it on my laptop.
Is there a viewer (preferably a free viewer) that will use the files in the VIDEO_TS folder to let me watch the downloaded DVD? Alternatively is there a program (again, preferably a free one) that will convert some or all of the contents of the VIDEO_TS folder into a playable format such as .avi, .mov, etc., which I can then watch with a viewer I already have?
If this has already been covered in this or another forum (surely it must have been) I would be happy with a pointer to a reasonably easy-to-understand FAQ or other Guide for Newbies.
Thanks!

VLC Media Player, choose to open a directory and open the VIDEO_TS folder.
