    i am trying to capture digital 8 video via usb using win movie maker. when i att to config my device video settings it opens a "stream format" window with the following options for video format.. 1) an open text box labeled video standard with "none" default. 2) frame rate with 30.000 default. 3) color space/ compression default is rgb 24 with drop down options yuy2 and uyvy 4) output size 160x120 default dropdown options 80x60,160x120 ,320x240. also contains compression quality with a slide bar from 0.000 to 1.000. after device config is window for video settings with two available options ( third is av- dvi but it is grayed out) 1) best for playback on cpu 2) other settings with multiple options that have varying bit rat display size and frames per sec but all are wmv files. after capture i want to put video on cdr as svcd file in highest possible quality for viewing on sd tv in 4:3. tried diff settings based on what lit i could find with poor video results. big thanks for any help

  2. Use firewire, not USB. Capture as DV AVI. That will get you an exact copy of what's on the tape.
