Beginners Basic guide to good Quality captures.
For the purpose of this tutorial we will capture vhs to vcd.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I havent included any images as this tutorial is so basic dont think
you need them.
I want to point out that I am also a beginner. But after spending so long
looking all over for guides and how to's I thought I would pool all I had
gathered into one place. Let's learn and progress together.
So you just got that capture card and want to get started.
This is not the definitive guide it's just to allow the beginner to get
good results without having to trawl through pages and pages to
find what you need.
Before we start make sure you have
1. the latest drivers installed for your equipment
2. the latest directx installed
3. the WDV drivers for windows
NOTE:
I am not endeavouring to show everything you need to know. Just to show those
with win98 and winme the easy way around the 4 gig file limit.
Software used in this tutorial:
------------------------------------------
Sonic Foundry video vegas(www.sonicfoundry.com/download/)get it here.
TMPGE.2.51 also download and intsall the vfapi plugin(http://www.tmpgenc.net/e_main.html)get it here. (Some programs are expensive and there are other forums from which you can get them). hehehe
I find the above software the easiest to use and vegas will get you
round the 4 gig file limit on fat 32 systems
OK lets cut the Babble and get on with it!
As this is a basic guide, we aren't going to change many presets.
This is something you will do as you progress.
Start up Vegas video.
Under file select capture. (A new screen will appear)
Under video select your video device.
Start your video and select capture.
Click stop when you're ready.
In clip files you should now have a thumbnail of your clip. You can
right click to check where it was saved to and the properties. That's it, close video vegas.
Start TMPGE (Again we wont change many presets)
For the sake of this tutorial we will work with the wizard.
Select your Video format, click next.
Use the browse buttons to locate the file you just captured.
Click next. Click next. Click next.
Select where you want to save the file. Click ok. That's it.
You should now have a file saved as your chosen format.
This is so basic and you should have a good quality capture.
Up to you to experiment and try to improve the quality.
FOOTNOTE:
Video vegas will segment your caps over 4 gigs just convert them into mpeg with tmpg
and join them under mpeg tools add each file and your all done. Full
movies the easy way.
A good source for info is to read any posts by seffy he seems
to know what he is talking about. Hope he doesnt mind me
pointing you in his direction.
Please all you experts dont start telling me this is wrong this is
only a basic tutorial to get the newbies started which this site seems to lack.
I'm sure the newbie will find this helpful and set them on the road to better captures
Good luck!
Would appreciate any feed back and help in obtaining a better capture.
Try StreamFab Downloader and download from Netflix, Amazon, Youtube! Or Try DVDFab and copy Blu-rays!
