How can I make VideoLAn my default video player?

I can't find any command to "make it so,"

Even the VideoLAN home page did not help.

I know what I first set it up it was the default player, but, sometime afterword Window's own media player took over (and refuses to play anything at any time) the duty.

And I am sick and tired of manually opening VideoLAN for each and every video.

    THanks for any help.

    Does not work

Doing so only starts media player which then promply opens up a error window.

I know what you are thinking of, but, I don't want to go and do this for each and every file format.

There must be a command in VLC (just as there is in MediaPlayer or QTW) to make it the default player.

I wish I couild remember it

When you installed VLC, you should have seen an option to 'Associate with files' or similar. That puts VLC into the R Click menu when you select a video file. But WMP will still try to butt in occasionally. What zoobie said for that.

Are you still using Windows 98 as shown in your computer profile?
