I am wondering if there is a Freeware (preferably), or relatively cheap program where I can take an mp3 or wav file and adjust the speed of the song without changing the pitch (or better yet, one that includes an option to change each seperately.) I'm sure this is a common question but can't seem to find an answer.

  3. I second Audacity. It can:
    Change tempo without changing pitch
    Change pitch without changing tempo
Change speed, which changes pitch and tempo

In the context of audio, what's the difference between 'speed' and 'tempo'?

  6. Speed changes both tempo and pitch. Think fast talking chipmonks. Tempo has no effect on pitch so a deep bass remains a deep base, just faster.
