Exporting and creating video Canon XH A1

I am having issues. I use Pinnacle Studio 12 Ultimate. It seems to export the video from the camera fine. However, when I go to create an AVI, MOV, MPEG, etc.... the video quality is horrible. Definetly not HD quality.

How do I ensure the video quality retains the HD format? Is there another program I should try? Pinnalce is of no help on this one.

Which program should I use to convert, edit and make HD videos?

I have a canon HV-20 with HDV tape. I use P Studio ll Ult with current patches. Works great if I capture in HDV and make a tape of the edited material in HDV. I also tried a short clip in AVCHD, BluRay compatible and it worked great in an older Sony BR player. I have not tried to convert to SD with PS.

I have directly recorded SD dvds from the camera to a recorder using the SD DV firewire link. Notice occasional skipped frame but otherwise good results.

Pinnacle Studio 12 is a consumer program optimized for slow consumer computers. Many liberties are taken with image quality.

You have a pro camcorder. You need more serious editing software and a computer profile.

Please tell us what computer spec you are using. It is rare that a beginner starts with a >$3000 XH-A1.
