You need a screen capture software like Snagit.

Thanks for the link, but not exactly what I need. The video was recorded but I need the other area also. I am going to look into the screen capture software. Does it record audio?

Thats it Bro.....exactly what I needed. As you can see, the video is a math video. My goal is to get this type of videos in a format that my student can put on there tech toys such as psp, ipods and zune and phones. Who knows they might actually what them if they have access to them in this type of format. Now can you share how you did it.....I have a few more that I would like to do.

    Once again, you the man.......

Just tried replay media catcher but it just recorded the video part and I need the other part also. Any other suggestions. Does replay media catcher allow you to pick what part of the screen to capture like snagit. I know it can be done, just need to know how.

  9. Camtasia studio works, you can enable the audio recording in the configuration. You have options to record different formats (e.g. lagarith lossless, xvid etc...) it might depend if your cpu is fast enough

A better quality way, but a bit more complex is to download the .flv with orbit (grab++), use flvextract to extract the mp3 audio. This way you don't transcode the audio twice (2 rounds of quality loss). Your end device might not accept the mp3 audio, so you might have to transcode it once anyway

Once you have it captured you can use any number of programs (too many options to list) to convert it to your end format (whether it be zune, or ipod etc...)

If you wanted just to keep things simple (e.g. for students), you could instruct them to use camtasia to record it all (highlight the area to record), and ensure audio is enabled & properly configured. Then use that as input into something like xvid4psp for ipod (it has ipod presets), or free zune converter for zune (it has zune presets)

Unfortunately camtasia studio is not free, but I think there is a free application that is similar camstudio - but I'm not sure how well that will work

  10. You don't need any special software to capture that video. It will be in your browser cache after viewing it.

It's all in separate pieces. Probably 100 or more gif images and the video.
