I am trying to convert a MKV file to XviD AVI file for playing in my PHILIPS DVD Player.

    Specs of Video(From MediaInfo)

    Code:
    Resolution : 832 x 528
    Display aspect ratio : 16/9
    Frame rate : 23.976 fps
So whenever I am watching after conversion I am getting the picture slightly elongated lengthwise. The actors are appearing slightly elongated in their height. So how can I eliminate this in MeGUI?

Also in XviD config what shall I alter to get the best quality video possible so that i can play in PHILIPS DVD player also?

    Many thanks in advance!

Seems more like a problem of Display Ratio .
I presume that the specs are those of the mkv file to be convert. judging by the 23,976 fps looks like ntsc films but the resolution seems old! if you're watching and the image is 939 by 528 then the Display aspect ratio is applied and the image is technically correct if the image remains at 832 by 528 (Aspect ratio :1.575) it means the aspect ratio is discard but it shouldn't be and that image is wrong!

If you're watching your xvid in the divx player you can select the video ratio (832 by 528 ) or in 16:9 (939 by 528)

you can specify a dar in MEGUI by adding the following in the aviscript:

    global MeGUI_darx = 16
global MeGUI_dary = 9 or whatever values will fits your needs!

Have you just tried convert to a 16:9 video resolution? like 832x468 with 1:1 display aspect ratio.

And if you are converting to 4:3 you must CROP the video or it wont look good. Like resize to 832x468(16:9) and then crop left and right so it fits in 624x468 (4:3).
