I apologize if this is not in the right forum...
I'm currently using procoder 2 to encode my avi files, then dvdauthorgui for authoring and imgburn for the burning. It's working out great, at least when I play it back on my computer. In my dvd player however sometimes it gets a little buggy like not showing the selectable feature in the menu or not playing an episode from beginning to end (it'll skip to the next episode). Then I looked at the discs I'm using. Sony DVD+R for data and then it has an RW sign right below it??!!! I probably shouldn't be using "for data" discs if I want to play them back on my dvd player right? and how can a disc be DVD +R and RW??? What discs should I use for dvd player use?
thanks

Those sound more like authoring issues. If you test play the DVD from the files on your HDD do you have the same issues ?

It could also be a compatibility issue between the discs and your player. Try another brand, such as Verbatim, and see if the problems persist.Read my blog here.

The RW is just a logo for the DVD+RW Aliance (in charge of both the +R and +RW spec).Originally Posted by uglijimus

If I play the DVD from my HDD I have no problem at all. I also tried the same DVD in my father's DVD player and had no problems with it. Could it be a compatibility issue with the first DVD player I tried it in? You suggested Verbatim. Is this a better brand?Originally Posted by guns1inger

Also, is there any difference between using a data DVD disc vs. a video DVD disc?

 thanks
