That had to be one of the worst movies that i had to sit through (dragged there by my wife & daughter -- two separate people).

It was "Dawson's Creek: The Movie" masquerading as a vampire flick. It was so heavily padded that it could have easily been trimmed down to 45min/an hour. Most of the movie seemed like a resumé for the cinematographer. there were so many stylistic, pan, and aerial shots that it became ludicrous.

The acting was abysmal and pacing was sluggish. I even like the occasional chick flick, but this movie is a steaming pile of Wasted My Two Hours.

I'm not surprised at all. Frank Miller's The Spirit looks a lot better. It opens Christmas Day.

  3. Clearly, you aren't the target audience. My niece's and all of their friends ages 13 - 21 saw it and loved it. Every minute. Couldn't get them to shut up about it. They had all read the book(s) prior to going and were so hyped up about it, I didn't think the movie could live up to their expectations, but according to them, it surpassed them. Personally, I'll wait until my niece gets the DVD and watch it with her.

I swelled up with pride when my daughter proclaimed that "it wasn't very good." Her cousin, on the other hand, loved it. of course, she's part of that vapid Hannah Montana - Jonas Bros. fan set. Even though my daughter tries to be a team player and like that crap, she doesn't have it in her heart (or mind) to become a moron. Also, her ears actually function.

And gatgetguy, thanks for clearing that up that I'm not a 13-year-old girl. Everybody, you read it here first!

It's kind of odd that you would feel the need to add clarification on that! Are you from Arkansas? :P :P :P

It looks like a total tweenie-chick flick. Isn't the book series it's based on aimed squarely at 10-12 year-old girls?
The commercials are horrid, I didn't even think it would be worth a rent.

the original was awesome. i fear this new version starring Mr. Whoa will be incredibly short on story and really nothing more than a special effects blow-out.
Not that there's anything wrong with special effects movies, but there was a lot of thought and meaning to the original.

Amen to that, Xylob, and the other really great SF movie of the 50s was one called "Forbidden Planet". The effects (for their day of course) were awsome, and the plot was heavy duty.

Of course the plot was heavy duty - it's Shakespeares "The Tempest" dressed up for a 20th century audience

But I reckon TDTESS MkII will be dressed down for a 21st century audience, the film equivalent of fast food - look good, but nothing to get your teeth into or do you any good.
