I use TMPEG to convert all my video streams to SVCD, but find that with every conversion I get a few small skips when playing back later.
Audio sync is maintained, but the skip is becoming annoying.
I am running an AMD XP 1600, 2 * 60GB Quantum Atlantis AS Drives (7200) RPM.
Any ideas.

Did you use single pass on your encode's? Try 2-pass VBR on a test clip and see if skips.
I had the same problem when I encoded a 29.97fps/CQ/SVCD clip that I burned and played with my Apex. It looked great but had an annoying skip thruout. But it stayed in sync, just like you stated. I've been using 2-pass ever since with no problems.
