I hope i'm in the right forum for this, I've made several lil music videos and they are saved as avi files w/ divx codec used. When i convert it to a mpeg2 to be burnt onto a dvd-r for playback on a dvdplayer, i see these horizontal lines appear during fast paced sequences or if i added special effects into the music video itself. how can i fix this? is there a way to convert it so that those lines dont show up anymore? and if anyone can explain why they do show up, i'd appreciate it.

From what you described, i think you should try a different scaler/resizer. Biliniar should be for shrinking and Bicubic for enlarging.

You may be seeing interlacing artifacts as a result of the MPEG conversion. They will show up on a computer as horizontal lines on the edges of faster moving vertical objects, as a computer monitor uses a progressive display. If you use a interlace capable software player like VLC and select a 'deinterlace' mode, do they disappear?

Interlaced video is normal for MPEGs shown on a TV and they shouldn't show there either. Try playing back on of your DVDs on a set top player to a TV.

If it's not interlace artifacts, then you have a problem somewhere in the encoding process.

well yea, i mentioned i'm playing them on my dvd player...not a dvdrom.
any thoughts? i'll try that deinterlace thing if i even have that. i use tempgenc 3.0 express to convert files to mpeg2 ready files.
