    Hello,

I have a strange problem with playing video files on my computer.
Everytime I open a file it takes around 30 seconds before the program starts playing the video.
This happens with different video files with different codecs like XVID and DIVX.
Also it happens with different progams, I tried WMP, WMP Classic, SMPlayer, MUI(MPLayer GUI) and PowerDVD but the problems occurs with all the video players.
I already tried reinstalling the codecs but that didn't help.

    Installed Codecs on system: http://www.sendspace.com/file/8l4w7k
    MPlayer log: http://www.sendspace.com/file/1j4jp2
    SMplayer log: http://www.sendspace.com/file/w9jthc

Thanks in advance for the help!

    Greetings,

    Martn

  2. To rule out codecs and file splitter try playing a video with VLC. If that has the same problem you probably have a graphics card driver issue. Try updating to the latest WHQL certified drivers.

It may be an antivirus program scanning the file before allowing it to play. Not a bad thing to have happen, really.
Even a broken clock is right twice a day.

  5. Using VLC is not a solution to your problem, it's a workaround. You should to find out what's causing the long pause when using other players and fix it. Unfortunately, tracking that down may be difficult.

You're right, but it's always more easy postpone difficult things then fixing them. But hey enough time for boring stuff like that in the winter!

  7. You might also try using MPCHC. I like it better than VLC for watching video.
