I have a clip to play in Media Player (or Real or whatever will work) that I want to take a sound bite from with Sound Recorder and make it into a ringtone. My friend's PC has no problem doing this kind of thing with just WMP and Sound Recorder, but for some reason mine won't do it. Sound Recorder never picks up the audio and all I get is dead air. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    TIA

    Try audacity.

Also make sure you have selected "what u hear" as the recording source. That should let you record whatever the soundcard is playing.

I'll have to check it out. It's for a friend, so I'll have to see if it's something they can handle. I still can't for the life of me figure out what's different with my setup since I'm able to do it through Windows' Sound Recorder.
