Ok I've been reviewing some posts on black and white issues with pc to tv conversions.

I am using an ati all in wonder hd with a svideo to rca adapter. It was outputting in COLOR to the vcr just perfectly last night. This morning all I get is black and white. I even tried a different svideo to rca adapter but no luck. It turns out the other adapter was a 4 pin so that shouldn't be a suprise. The one I was originally using was a 7 pinner I believe.

And yes I know svideo to rca is not the best option. However this is for an older analog tv that only has a coaxial input. So I'm outputting to rca via the svideo-rca adapter so I can run it through the rca input on the vcr and then up to the tv through the coax.

Everything was perfect last night but this morning it is outputting Black and White. Here's the weirdest part - the HP prebios boot screen is in COLOR! Then when windows starts its in black and white.

    Anyone ever heard of this?

I do seem to remember something about bent pins being a culprit in svideo color issues. However upon visual inspections it seems to be in good shape.

If you have suggestions please let me know. I don't believe it should be the catalyst drivers as I had it working fine yesterday. could it be a windows update? Also I'm not sure if the resolution has anything to do with it. I can do either 800x600 or 640x480 - even 720x480 is an option. I don't remember exactly what it is at right now. However I need it at least 800x600 every now and then to be able to use the desktop on windows, MCE works just fine in any mode - it's damn hard to read small text in other resolutions.

EDIT - Ok I have done tests at resolutions of 800x600, 1024x768, and 640x480. I still had a black and white image. Worse yet I still have the color opening logo HP screen - that means it does output color just not in windows for some odd reason.

The only thing I did change last night that I remember was the power settings. I used tjohns and redwudz guidance so that the monitor output wouldn't cut out prematurely. Is there any chance that changing the power settings from default would affect the color output through the svideo jack?

Ok just wanted to post that I had found a solution online. It turns out there was a seperate color setting that had been reset to 0. This caused everything to go to black and white. I found this online:

Green Button has helped me several times, and is much appreciated.
I hope this proves useful to somebody else in the future. FYI the card I have is the ati all in wonder hd 512mb pci-e card (NOT a tv wonder the new redo of the all-in-wonder).
