I have a dvd that came with Japanese subtitles. Instead of translating them, I found a script for it (in English). Is there a program I can use that will sync the text and video without me having to create timecodes for it?
Thanks.

If the subs come without the timecodes, you would have to create them.
Can you use just the timecodes from the other subs and substitute the text? Either way, it may be a bit of work.
But if those are the only subs available....
Realize that someone has to code all those subs by hand at some point anyway. It helps if you speak both languages. -

Then you can use Subtitle Workshop in translation mode, paste each line of the English script next to its corresponding Japanese translation.
Still a lot of work.
There may be shortcuts.
For instance, if you can turn your English script into a valid subtitle file (could do this in Excel, if you look at the formats), then you can use Subtitle Workshop's synchronisation tools to adjust the times to match the Japanese OCRed version.
But first have a look at sites like http://www.kloofy.net/ which may well have a English subtitle file already. -
The only subtitles for it at Kloofy are for the cut version. The Japanese ones are in .sub format. The version I need to create the subtitles for has about 30 minutes extra. I'll give both a go. Thanks!
