I'm trying to encode a 4gb HD movie with the mkv container to play on my Xbox360.

I used Windows Media Encoder to convert some short mkv files to wmv and they worked beautifully. However, when I try to load up the 4gb file in WME each screen of the wizard takes 10 minutes to load and I've not been able to complete it. (It's like the computer thinks real hard, but then forgets what it was doing.)

I've tried XBox360 Converter, but whenever I start it up I get a message that it needs to close.

I've tried WinAVI, but the output files don't play.

I've tried OGM to AVI, and even though it says the conversion is complete, the file doesn't appear anywhere.

I've tried Total Video Converter, but I get a message on the XBox that the codec (h264) isn't supported, which is weird because I'm certain it plays other h264-encoded vids.

    I'm at my wit's end.

    Many, many thanks in advance.

Tried GotSent? and convert /remultiplex to a mp4 container.

Or if it wouldn't work reconvert using Xvid4PSP, load the mkv, choose the xbox 360 profile and convert.

Try TMPGEnc 4.0 Express > Install latest CCCP pack and WMA 10.0 Pro.
U can also Hardsub your subtitles. Use the same Bitrate as the mkv file. And select 5.1 or 7.1 in the audio dash.
    Frame Rate is 240

    Good luck

Have you upgraded to the new dashboard? When I upgraded it dumped my codec to play h264 and I had to redownload it. and it took a few days for it to be able to connect to xbox to downlaod it.

I use Gotsent, and it works great. Although I have to change the file extension from .mp4 to .avi for the Xbox to play it.
