I have a Japanese DVD that I bought and since my Japanese language skills are not terribly good I was hoping I might be able to find a way to add a subtitle track to this. I obtained a fansub of the movie, an mkv, and got the .ass file from that and was hoping to modify this for my purposes. If possible I would like to keep the menus (because they are nice animated menus and I really like) them but in the worst case I could part with them if major changes to have be made.
I have done this in windows at one time but I have now completely moved to linux and have not done much authoring or encoding in this environment. Does anyone have any experience with this and might be able to help?

And I might have found a post describing this that I totally missed before. Hopefully it will work out.
Sorry for the possibly redundant post.
