  1. Hi,

    Spec:

    Voodoo 3 3500 16MB AGP
    Win 2K
    AMD XP 1600
    256MB DDR
    17GB Maxtor @ 5200rpm - UDMA mode

I am attempting to capture using DivX MPEG-a Video Codec configured with pretty much every data rate possible in VirtuaDub 1.4.8. The other info is:

    Frame rate: to 25
    Format: 352x288

Now the funny part for all you ATAIW guys is that I am using a V3-3500 card (yes I know) utilising the S-Video from my Sony Nicam TV.

The problem is that when I capture I am getting a lot of droppped frames, would this be likely down to my card, as in not enough VRAM? Or would it be likely to be my hard-disk is runninhg too slow? As I say I have tried every data rate in VirtuaDub 1.4.8 as suggested in the How To's on this site with the same reults. My CPU is very fast with a decent amout of RAM so I would have suspected it would have worked?

    Any info well appreciated,

    Cheers,

    Anderz

  3. Well this one's easy....don't capture directly to a Divx codec!! It's too processor intensive.

  4. Hi,

    Cheers for the replies.

Cannot see who mentioned it right at this moment but yes it seems to be the capturing directly to the DivX codec that is causing the problem as I can capture with no compression pretty much fine. This is via AVI_IO min you and even when selecting UYVY in VirtualDub I am still dropping allot of frames

Another problem though has arisen. I am getting no audio track with my video. I have audio playback when viewing the video via VirtualDub or AVI_IO and select the "Record Audio" option.

Any help well appreciated as always :o)

    Cheers,

  5. Hi Again,

Hate to hog my own thread but I feel I didn't offer enough info on the last post.

I am using a Sound Blaster Live Player/1024 and am getting full audio when "previewing" i.e. watching the tv via AVI_IO and VirtuaDub just no audio when I play back the captured video via WMP. I also tried havin an audio Y cable going from the V3 3500 Pod's audio-outs to the audio-in on my soundcard which does not seem to be required as I can hear audio when this is not plugged in but I thought I would give it a try.

Should the audio not be picked up by the capturing software mentioned above? How does the software capture audio? Does it just capture the video and audio in one file so I don't have to sync it in afterwards like when ripping a DVD?

Also for anyone searching for PAL/Euro Win2k Drivers for this card I have found them after searching for them since I got the card yesterday!!!

Excellent site for all Voodoo drivers.

    Cheers AGain,

  6. I suspect what you need to do is go into Window's sound controls (mixer), go to "Properties, Advanced", switch to the recording controls, and select line-in. It's probably set to microphone by default.
