    Hello,

I was capturing video using Windows Movie Maker 2.1 from my ATI TV Wonder card's composite input. Once I stopped the capture and clicked Finished to render the final movie, my computer froze and I was forced to reboot. I wound up with a file named WMT56.tmp in my capture folder which is about 4 GB in size. I never got a .wmv file because of the crash. I was wondering if there is any possibility of me recovering the video from the .tmp file?

Your help is greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Try rename to wmv and run it through asfbin or steeper and see what happens.

    Thank you for your reply.

Using steeper, I get an error saying "Can't copy D:\Repair.wmv". Repair.wmv is the name of the file I told Steeper to save the repaired file as.

I am unsure how to use asfbin.

Ok so I ran asfbin through a command prompt using this:

    asfbin.exe -i d:\wmt56.tmp -o d:\repair.wmv

    The result is this:

    Input file list:
    File no. 01: D:\wmt56.tmp exists
    Segments to copy:
Segment no. 01: start = 00:00:00:000, lasts to end,
    Processing Failed!

    Any other ideas?
