  1. This may be a dumb question but I have an 83 min film I'd like to squeeze onto an 80 min disc. Tried overburing but my dear old writer couldnt handle that!
Decided if I could increase speed by about 4% this may work & you shouldnt notice such a small increase - but cant find an app that can do it ??
    Any ideas ?
    Thanks in advance

Bad idea. You can speed up the video by increasing the framerate, but then the dvd player wont be able to play it. Cut 3 minutes or reencode at a lower bitrate.

  3. Cheers mate. Whats the best/quickest app to lower the bitrate with ? Bearing in mind its an 800+MB file it could take quite a while!

    Thanks again

Dont know, what is the best, because you will loose quality anyway. Try TMPG. Fastest encoders are probably LSX and CCE.

  5. Can you cut out any of the beginning or end of the MPEG. Cause to lower the bitrate you need to re-encode it.

  6. Already cut it down as much as I can - will give bitrate compression a go. Thanks alot

  7. One trick I just discovered is to load your mpg file thru TMPGEnc's 'mpg tools' as if you were going to cut it, but don't actually cut anything and run it thru. For some reason, the final mpg file looks identicle but is smaller in size. I have NO idea why, but it did at least on my last movie. It shrunk an 845MB movie to 765MB. Worth a try.
