I just have a quick question. I tried backing up a tv series disc I have using the Main Movie method so that I could fit it onto a single layer dvd disc. The problem is when I burn it on the disc and put it into my dvd player and also another dvd player I tried I get the file structure and have to manually scroll to each file to play it. I also cannot turn the dvd player off and have the episode restart in the same position like it did with the original dvd. The file structure is as follows: Folder is SeriesName_D1, inside that folder are the various .vob, .bup, and .ifo files. That includes the Video_TS.bup and Video_TS.ifo. Is there an easy way for me to rename or redo the structure on my hard drive without having to rip it again? Thanks all for your help.

By creating a folder called SeriesName_D1, you just rendered your disc non-DVD compliant.

In DVDShrink, the reauthor mode should still maintain original chapter points. If you want to keep the navigational structure, you would need to keep the menus from the original.

Before burning, your top level folder(s) in your DVD should be VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS (optional).

So in other words if I rename my folder to VIDEO_TS and burn the whole folder and not just the files in it it should work like a normal/autoplay dvd? I take it you mean that by taking out chapter points you mean I can't turn off the dvd player in the middle of playback and have it resume at the same spot? Thanks.

Go to What Is DVD: https://www.videohelp.com/dvd

Scroll down to the section entitled: "DVD File/Folder Structure."

Most DVD players will allow you to resume from a stop point as long as you hit the stop button only once -- regardless of chapter points -- as long as you have a true DVD video and not a Data DVD with video files inside.

What are you burning your discs with? ImgBurn will make a true DVD-compliant disc out of a VIDEO_TS folder that contains the types of files listed on that What Is DVD page.

DvdShrink is not the best choice for an episode disc. You want to keep the menu for easy navigation. Shrink lacks flexibility, you can keep the menus or reauthor. Beyond dumping unneeded audio tracks, there's no way to delete extras.

If there are extras you want to strip out, VobBlanker can do it, and preserve menus. You can also blank any specific titleset you wish and the corresponding menu button will be disabled after processing. (This can be useful for splitting: Blank half the episodes on one disc, then blank the others on a second disc.) If your modified DVD is still too big, run it through DvdRebuilder, the result will be better re-encoding rather than transcoding with DvdShrink.

Or just use the "Half space and half D1 for extras" option in DvdRebuilder if the above is too much trouble.

    Good luck.
