  1. What are my options for x264 encoding under LINUX? I'm hoping to find something like MeGUI with a nice GUI and powerful back-end apps. I did have a look at the sticky, but nothing caught my eye. My primary source will be MPEG-2 files from my PVR-250 so I'll need to deinterlace. I think I'm going to miss avisynth

    Anyway, suggestions are welcomed!

    Avisynth does work under Linux with Wine.

    h264enc is a command line based alternative that you may want to try:

    if you feel brave you can try my latest gui : autox264 (actully in private beta status, i will publish it for linux and windows)

    you need mencoder, mplayer , xterm console and mpeg4creator (from mpeg4-server package)

  4. In case someone else has this question and finds this thread, Handbrake 0.93 was recently released and the ubuntu debs (both x86 and x64) work well under Debian Lenny.
