  1. Hi Sefy:

    Take a look at http://clonead.cjb.net

The new CladDVD XP now rips and integrates built-in DVD2AVI in one step.

So all parameters are set before rippping, and you end up with all VOB's and the .d2v project when done.

This should simplify the separate guides for Rippers and DVD2AVI.

  2. Smart Ripper can also create a D2V/WAV files, so having the ripper do it is not a new thing, problem is, that sometimes those D2V Project files don't get accepted by TMPGEnc for some reason.

But I do agree, it would be nice to take off a step in the whole process

  3. Hi Sefy:

I finished last night the movie "Patriot Games"

It was ripped and processed completely with the new CladDVD XP including the making of the project file.

The movie was actually processed via an AviSynth script that reads the .d2v project file into TMPEG.

I have never trusted SmartRipper, because it has done strange behaviours in the past. Although I haven't tried the latest versions.

But I believe the internal CladDVD engine is better that SmartRippers.

  4. Hi Kwag,

I will look into that, but personaly i've never had Smart Ripper fail on me yet, and i've had CladDVD fail on me more then once.

How does the CladDVD XP version works on 98SE and 2000 ? is it stable on those systems ?

As i've mentioned before, you can do the same thing CladDVD does by just changing some settings in Smart Ripper, and it will create both the D2V and the WAV file.

    Hi Sefy:

I am using Windows XP now. ( Home edition on one machine, Professional on another ).
It has worked flawlessly for 2 movies I've ripped today. I am currently processing "Space Cowboys" with my template, so I'll know tomorrow if I get the whole thing in one CD!.
There were no errors on the rip, and I did preview with the slider in TMPEG back an forth the whole movie before starting the encode.

The 2 DVD's I processed, ripped without errors, and created the .d2v project automatically. I process the .d2v with a .avs script that has the decomb filter to do IVTC, so the .d2v project I generated was with "Forced Film OFF", so that the decomb filter would do the work.

I am getting excelent results this way, with a quality far beyond Xmpeg, Flask, and other stuff.

So I'll see tomorrow how it comes out!.

    Thanks Sefy.

Ok I Finished "Space Cowboys" perfect!. Had to cut the mpeg a little at the end because the file size came out to 872,985KB so I cut off after the first minute of final credits, and now is 815,954KB. So it's burned with full chapters, and looks great. That was with a CQ=75, BTW. Total play time 2:04:09.

  8. Hi Kwag, well, I tried using CladDVD XP, unfortunatly it appears to not work very well on a Windows98SE machine, well, atleast mine anyway, as it just hangs there trying to read the "information" from the DVD, although it already "detected" the DVD in the drive and selected the VOB's, it just didn't go any further then that.

Pity you don't have "Superman - The Movie", or i'd ask you to take some ripping snap shots for me

Chucks!, no, I don't have Superman
But I have a lot of DVD's so if you want me to make a sample of one, just ask!.

The list is long, but if you want, I'll e-mail you some titles and you tell me which one to do.

  10. Well, basicly I need something that will be identical to the movie in the guide, so it won't confuse people of any diffrence, so if you have a movie that has 8 VOB files, and is around the same length (154min) and the Audio is on the first track.

I just want it to match the guide as much as possible, and I need snapshots of each step of the process, including the settings screen, if you can and it's not too hard, let me know
