I have a few trailers in High Definition, whilst I know how to use either Quicktime Pro or AvideMux to change the container, it's a little time consuming doing it one-by-one when you have so many.

Is there a program which allows a batch list so I can add a whole lot at once and then leave it to change the containers?

Much appreciated as I have looked for a while to find something like this, but it's hard to find.

I searched this forum for a few answers too but it doesn't seem like anybody else has wanted to do the same thing and I couldn't find any software under the Tools section.

Tried using the 'joblist' in AVIdemux? If I remember correctly (I don't do much batch processing) there should be some options to add projects to the joblist under the File menu.

There's also a number of all-in-one converters like Xvid4PSP, WinFF, and SUPER that should allow for batch conversion, but it sounds like you want more control over each conversion than just a straight blanket conversion of all those .mov files to .mp4.
If cameras add ten pounds, why would people want to eat them?

See, I don't want to convert these files from mov into mp4, I simply want to change the container as converting takes way too long per file, when all I need to do is change the container which takes 5-10 seconds.

I have looked at WinFF yesterday and SUPER a while ago (but it's only a conversion tool) and XviD4PSP suggests it would only convert files to PSP format (lower quality), when changing the container doesn't alter the quality, it just changes the format (then I would be able to play them on the PS3).

The JOBLIST feature on AvideMux looked to be promising at first, but I'm pretty sure you have to setup and open each file seperately which is defeating the object of what I want to do, unless I'm doing it wrong?

I simply want to select a few files and drag them into the program (or click on Open and add them to the program), then click "Change Container" or whatever I have to do for a program to do that.

Darn. I was hoping someone more experienced in using AVIDemux would comment. Yeah, you probably would have to add and setup each file separately.

Offhand, I don't think there are any programs available as-is that would batch demux Quicktime videos and remux them into an MP4 container, unless mencoder can do it. Of course, if there's a command-line Quicktime demuxer out there (I haven't looked ), writing a batch file/script to do it would probably be easy - but then, that's more Soopafresh's territory, perhaps. I'm several years out of practice at writing batchfiles.

Despite its name, Xvid4PSP does far more than just create PSP videos. It's also more of a general converter, with several profile options to select (for different devices and output containers). It isn't what you're looking for, in this case, though.

Are you sure the remuxed MP4s will work on the PS3? In my experience, the PS3 does tend to be rather picky...

I have used the process with AvideMux and Quicktime Pro and both programs have great results with working on the PS3, I appreciate that XviD4PSP might convert all kinds of files, yet I would rather not re-encode the files, it takes too long.

Using the passthrough settings on AvideMux and Quicktime Pro makes this a painless process and really takes no time at all, yet I have quite a few quicktime files which is the only reason it would take a while.

I think I've come across something that would be useful, however it's for MAC only.

SimpleMovieX has a batch export feature.

    Have you tried ffmpeg ?

ffmpeg -i movie.mov -vcodec copy -acodec copy output.mp4

and then can you make a batch for all files in a folder.

I've never been too comfy with that kind of encoded/coversion program, it seems pretty complex?

I'll take a look soon and see what I can do with it.

You know, after relying so much on a great program called MediaCoder which I'm sure most of you will know about.

I hadn't realized it has a Copy audio and Copy video setting under each of the preferences, so all you have to do is set the output to MP4 once you clicked on copy both audio/video then it effectively does what I need it to do.

Effectively the same as a Pass Through setting which is exactly what I was looking for.

I havn't tried the videos on the PS3 yet, however the process was simple and I can add as many files as I like and let the program convert them all.

The simplest answer is usually right infront of you.

It's a command line tool and they might be very handy some times. Extract the ffmpeg to a folder, then open a command prompt(Start->Program->Accessories->Command Prompt), type cd "\thefolderto\ffmpeg" and then you type the above command to run it.

But mediacoder looks like another option and it might do exactly the same easier.

I think it's probably too much hassle for what I want to do, I don't need to do this professionally as it's only something I would like to do from time to time, but would be very nice and finding out that mediacoder does it is exellent.

Thanks for all attempts to help.

  14. Late to the party, but make a text file and make sure it ends with .bat not .txt

In the file put the text:

FOR %%A IN (*.mov) DO ffmpeg -i %%A -vcodec copy -acodec copy %%A.mp4

Ffmpeg will have to be in the folder or use the full path.
