Good afternoon all, I hope that I am posting this in the right section. My question is that when I download video in 1080i on my computer and save to the hard drive, during the playback it freezes up quite frequently. When downloading and saving a 720p its great. On the other end when I run movie trailers like from apple/quicktime in 1080p and view them it runs flawless. I have a nvidia 6800 video card with a P4 3.06ghz cpu and 4 gig of ram. My monitor is maxed out at 1920x1080. Anyone could help why I have this problem. Thanx all.

    Try playing it with VLC.

Your computer isn't powerful enough to play 1080i from your harddrive,i had the same problem playing 1080i with a 3400 athlon 64,when i went to a an athlon 6000 x2 then it played smoothly.

You might also try Media Player Classic Home Cinema. It seems to work fine for MKV HD video.

But you do need a fair amount of CPU power and a video card that can handle the format.

I'd recommend at least an nvidia 8400 series card for high def graphics. That should help a lot for smoother playback. Plus if you can swing it jump to a dual core processor. The improvement in performance is dramatic.
