Hey, guys just looking for some help and I'm not sure if this is the forum to use.
Well, I am making a football montage.
I slide the M-PEG 4 Videos into the timeline and the first one works out fine.
The ones with the quicktime icons won't work though, but are still M-PEG 4.
Remember, I just started using this a day ago and am new.
Thanks guys.

Quicktime mov files? Try mp4cam2avi and convert to avi files and import in vegas.

	Okay, thanks fellas.
Let's just say that some of these files are over a gig, can that program still convert it, Baldrick?
-
Also, if it doesn't, do you know if there is any programs that can edit M-PEG 4? Or programs that can convert larger M-PEG 4 files? Thanks.

Dumbquestion, but do you have Quicktime Pro installed on your PC. Vegas won't recognize any file encoded or associated with Quicktime unless you have Quicktime pro installed.

I was using a Sony HDR-SR7 filming in 1080i for many months. I dropped m2ts files straight from the camera into Vegas 8 Pro no problem. I just bought a Sony HDR-XR500V which films in 1080p. It will not recognize most of the files. I did five video clips ranging from 12MB to 100MB in size. Only one file (14MB) would load properly. The 13MB file would only load as audio. The others weren't even recognized. I've resorted to using Total Video Converter to convert the m2ts files to AVI h.264 files. It's the only conversion that TVC will allow. I have 14 days to take this camera back. I might just do that.Originally Posted by templedog

that cam only records in 60i or more commonly referred to as 30i in non advertising speak, no 1080p. set up your project as - HD 1080-60i (1920x1080, 29.970 fps). don't try to force the videos as 1080p as they are not.

 60i is 60 - 1/2 frames a second, or when put together 30 interlaced frames a second.

	RE: HDR-XR500V

Vegas supports native AVCHD. Read the help file on "Working with AVCHD Video" and "Importing Video from an AVCHD Camcorder".

A better alternative is Cineform Neo Scene.

sounds like some sort of file corruption then. do the vidoes play without a problem on the computer after transferring them?

are you using the latest update, vegas pro 8.0c? i've used sony avchd m2ts files in 8.0c and haven't had a problem with any yet. if you are up to date maybe un-install it and then re-install.

if you have a small bad one you want to upload to a filesharing site, we can try it for you.

Sony Movie Studio Platinum 9 saved the day! It even handles the surround sound. Thanx for all of the help. I was moments away from uploading a file for you to test or downgrading cameras.
