    Yes, David,

Since it's an "export" as opposed to "save as", it does get encoded again (and AGAIN when re-imported), but if you save as uncompressed or lossless--PNG is good--then it only compresses on import/resave. No way of fixing this without some kind of dedicated file-serving pipeline. It looks like all those other ways went to DV first...

    Scott

p.s.--note that many of those other apps use QT as their engine, so they'll be stuck when QT is.

  3. I have solved the problem. Finally thanks to Herve I could make the reencapsulation in a new mov container of the movies with ffmpeg. Everything was ok, and since no reencoding was needed I have just converted the first folder with 500Gb in less than 5 minutes. Now my videos are completely compatible with all my software.
Thanks to all of you for your dedication on this subject. I have learn many things in this thread.

See you in another thread (I have many things to ask).

Terry the woman is pouring cider not wine. Cider is typical from were I live Asturias (Spain). To drink it you must first pour it (we call escanciar) into a big and very thin glass with your arm high so the cider gets some bubbles.
Unfortunately "escanciar" cider is an art and the woman (my wife) is not doing very well.

    Good bye.

Why some of you can view the movies and others not, and why some videos are problematic and others not will remain a mystery. If someone can add something to this long thread it be welcome.

sorry David, I meant no insult, I had no idea what she was pouring so only assumed from the shape of
the bottle in her hand that it was wine. My apologies.

  5. No need to apologize since by no way I was offended. Perhaps I should have added and smile to my last post.
