Those of you with capture cards, how long does it take (on an average).. to capture a 2 hour movie to vcd format?

Are you capturing to an Mpeg ? Then you'd probablt refer to a hardware encoder device (ie Dazzle).
Quite simply if it captures in VCD format, it'll take you 2 hours to capture a 2 hour movie....it's realtime encoding.....~~~Spidey~~~

which dazzle device is the best... yes i want to encode straight to mpeg

depends on your settings--just to give you an idea I capture Mpeg-1 352x240 @ 1.96 MBps with 224kbit/s audio and 45minutes takes 700MB or so. I don't like to re-encode or anything else but a dedicated person might be able to squeeze that down a bit. There are a hundred different ways of doing captures, you just have to find the one that suits your lifestyle
