First i would like to thank you in advance for your assistance.

I am looking at purchasing my first video camera that will be primarily used for occasional trips as well as taping our new granddaughter (couple times a year).

I am leaning towards a camera that uses HDD as its recordable medium - comments?

Price is as always a concern but would like to stay around $500 (CDN) but can be swayed to spend a little more if necessary.

thank you for your suggestions and comments.

    Cheers
    Ron

The $500 mark makes it difficult to recommend the newer AVCHD cameras, which record to internal Hard Drive.

The $500 is essentially a arbitrary price point that I had set. I am willing to go higher if teh "bang for the buck" is worth it.

    thanks
