I just recently got a western digital wd5000avvs 500 gig sata hard drive. Installed it in my Foxconn NF4SK8AA-8EKRS motherboard and the motherboard does not detect it. In the bios it shows blank on that channel, with nothing hooked up it shows none or you can choose autodetect, But there's no choice, it's just blank. any ideas. Thanks Jay

Not sure but you may need to update the bios for the board to "see" your hard drive.

If you are just wanting to use this drive as storage and not for your operating system you could always buy a cheap pci controller card. Your system is sure to see the drive when plugged into a controller card.

Test the HDD on another PC. It's possible the drive is just hosed.

    jek,

I've got the same motherboad. If I remeber right, when adding my first SATA drive, I had to enable the faster speed on the drive. The motherboard says it supports both but its not automagic. You do this by adding a jumper to the drive. Check your manual for something like 'server' or '3gb' setting. Don't remember specifics off hand but something along those lines is what got it going.
    Have a good one,
