what is good desktop FLV player for Windows? Small standalone FLV player (for all windows vers.) Not VLC or Media Player Classic(which can play with ffdshow codec pack). Also, is there a standalone(portable) FLV player that can work when burned on CDROM? (command line vers.)

  3. MPlayer (+ eventually GUI, example SMPlayer) or FFplay and maybe The KMPlayer (but not command line)...

    BTW
Media Player Classic can use internal splitter and decoder for FLV.
    ffdshow it's not codec pack.

Media Player Classic can no play FLV files. At least, without installing additional software or without resorting to some tricks. It not designed for FLV. I think special flash players can do this better. I tried Sothink FLV Player, its free, small size, works well, but not standalone one though, so can not be used on CDROM.

    Partially right.

Currently, there are two versions developed.

    Look at MPC Homecinema:
    http://mpc-hc.sourceforge.net/
    http://sourceforge.net/projects/mpc-hc/
    http://www.xvidvideo.ru/content/category/1/1/2/ (actual SVN builds)

Internal decoder for the FLV has been removed in clsid build.

which MPClassic version support DivX? It contains built-in DivX codec or something else?

MakeInstantPlayer is a tool for converting video files into self-running executables, so if vob file is ~150-200MB what will be exe size?

It contain Gabest filters (splitters, decoders, ...), some decoders from FFmpeg and few other.
'Original' DivX codec? Probably not possible (closed source and other reasons).

Furthermore it uses NSIS to pack everthing to one single EXE file.

    Default...?

    Of course. But other reasons...

'Original' MPC is abandoned by Gabest.
clsid only fix old build and not add new features (should not be expected).

Actual only casmir666's build contain new features (DXVA and EVR support, additional internal decoders, ...).

Wimpy have two drawbacks: it does not work on Windows 98, and it put big Play/Stop icon(semitransparent) on center of window when mouseover on player window.

Interesting. I have version 2.5 and it works on Windows 98 and doesn't put an icon on the video. Maybe the later version has been 'improved'.

I tried Wimpy FLV Player 3.0.9 (the only version available) and it does not work on Windows 98.
On Windows XP, when play file, it show annoying white Play/Stop icon on center of window when occasionally mouse over on player window. That's really annoying.
