HI,
I capturing a DV AVI via an ADS FireWire card. I have been using Premiere standard setup to capture the NTSC AVI at 720x480 resolution. I have tried using CCE2.5, TMPGEnc12H and LSX-MPG 3.5 to encode the MPEGs and have been very disapointed with the results. The MPEGs had a large degree of blockiness and squirly looking edges around the people when they would move. I used VirtualDub smooth filter and frameserved to CCE2.5, that seemed to produce the best results. I have heard that people say the results should compare if not exceed VHS, I cant get there. I have been making test XSVCDs & SVCDs at 2200 - 2500kbits at 480x480 and 720x480 resolution to play in my DVD. One thing that I noticed is that the LSX-MPEG encoder says that my AVI is compressed at 9:1 already, I know that 5:1 is normal. Could this be the problem?? If so how do I correct it. Anyone have some tips on filters, settings,..etc for the encoders above. I have tried to use all the info on this site but can seem to make things work.
Please Help...Thanks!
BT
