Under the previous schedule, last night would have been the fall changeover date for Daylight Savings Time in the U.S. Unfortunately, my local PBS station has not reprogrammed their system in accordance with the new dates. Consequently, last night my VCR and DVD recorder reset their clocks using the PBS time signal, which was (and still is) wrong, and the timer recordings I set up for early this morning were an hour late. When I saw that the clock was wrong, I set the recorder and VCR to manual time, which is fine, until there is a power outage. Then, they default to automatic again.
This experience made me think about next year. PBS won't be broadcasting the analog time signal anymore after the digital transition date. As far as I know, there will be no time signal available on analog cable either, so all of us with "legacy" recording devices will need to get used to manually setting the clocks for them.
