    Hi ,
is there any way of stopping ts muxer changing the resolution of mkv files that i convert to bluray.
It seems to change it from the original eg - 1280 x 528 to 1280 x 720 causing the picture to stretch and everyone look too tall. lol!
I would rather keep it the same as the original file if this is possible or make it so it doesnt stretch some other way without too much messing around.
    thanks in advance.

    Bobo.......

  2. Stand alone blu-ray units can only play "regular" resolutions (ie. 1280x720, 1920x1080)

You would have re-encode and AddBorders(0,96,0,96) in avisynth to maintain the aspect ratio

ie. (720-528)/2 = 96 pixels to the top and bottom

It be easier to use the original bluray disc

Probably that's how the streams were before MKV. The aspect ratio was adjusted at the container level when muxed into the MKV and the streams return to "normal" when demuxed probably even before using TsmuxeR - which isn't supposed to change the file. Did you play them raw first before TsmuxeR?

Then again, I've never, ahem, encountered one of these "special" MKVs.
I hate VHS. I always did.

Those "special mkv's" are nothing more than blu-ray rips with borders cropped. Most Hollywood movies will not have a DAR of 1.778, rather DAR 2.35, so the original blu-ray will have borders to keep the full 1920x1080 frame which is necessary for blu-ray compatibility. Container flags are usually untouced in the .mkv backups, and PAR is usually 1:1, so DAR=FAR.

If you attempt the silliness of mkv=>blu-ray you just have to add the borders back to keep the original aspect ratio of the blu-ray; if you don't the aspect ratio will be distored as described by the OP when you stretch to full frame without borders.
