  1. Ok, first off, I'm not new to the vcd scene and have become quite adept, but my new foray into DVD-R wasnt too pleasant.

    I have a Pentium 4 1.5 ghz, 1012 mb ram, and a 30 gig hd

I transfer my vhs to my computer using an ATI AIW pro and MGI videowave 4. I use TMPEG to encode it to DVD, so far so good

    HOWEVER:

I have tried authoring AND burning with SpruceUp, authoring with SU and burning with nero, and authoring with dvdit then burning with nero. Every time with the same result, my PHILIPS DVD711 wont even recognize the disc, just tries to read it for awhile and then automatically ejects it.

    ANY help will be appreciated.

    P.S. I use Memorex DVD-R and Pioneer A03 DVD-R recorder

    Thanx

Even though it says it supports it in the DVD Players list, I don't think it does, read the post from people in there about your player. A few say they couldn't get DVD-R to work at all and one said he DID but had to beef up the discs to fill up the 4.3 Gig limit (just like some Dreamcast games). It's worth a try!

  3. Why burn it with Nero. Let Spruce Up do the burning? I have made many coasters with Nero and none with Spruce Up. Your choice of DVDr media is a good one.
