    hi
i create an iso image from a DVD by nero, introduce it to DAEMON Tools to create a virtual drive, and open the virtual disk by VLC. it thinks that it's an Audio CD while doesn't play anything and it remains at 0:00:00 position. when i open the VIDEO_TS folder as the disk, VLC plays it properly. i examined different DVDs and the problem persists. what's the problem?
    thx

  2. VLC will open ISO images of DVDs just like the DVD itself with the menu

oh yeah, ur right. i didn't know that.
but what i need to solve depends on this to be solved. this is a simplified problem. the original one is as follow:
my friend brought me a DVD. he told me that ur more familiar with DVDs and their problems than me. when i put this DVD in a player, it doesn't play. i took it home and tried to examine it with my computer. it played with no problem. i copied it to hard disk. there was no need to play it to be able to copy it to hard disk. it was still playable. so i thought the problem might be because of some scratch on the DVD. some less in speed while copying confirmed my thought. as my experience b4, i chose DVD data from the nero menu and copied the files as it was in my hdd to a new blank media. then i tried to play the resulting dvd. vlc, when tried to play it, thought that it was an audio cd as u see in the image i sent b4. i wondered why might be the problem. then i reduced the problem to what i mentioned in my previous post and thought that if it could be solved the major problem would be solved to.
i wonder what does Audio CD do there?!!!!!
i need probably u give me some hint on how can i clone a dvd properly not to lose anything from the original one like menu's etc.
DVD copy of nero may not be a good solution, because the original DVD is not so good to be relied on. all files r not readable by only one dvd reader. i've to use multiple recorders as i did to copy all files properly to hdd. let me know how can i copy what i have in my hdd to the media so that no player has any problem in playing the result.
sorry for so long text. i needed to describe the problem completely as it is.
    regards

  4. Video DVDs are not the same as Data DVDs
If you have to use Nero, select Video DVD template and copy VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS folders

    I would use Imgburn though

    omg, really thanx man!
    u really solved my problem.

now vlc plays it, even if i give it the root dir of the burnt image as the disk.
i hope that if i burn the image on a dvd media, it will be playable on my friend's dvd player.
otherwise, i will come here again, and acquire more assistances

p.s. i will certainly burn all of my dvd's by using imgburn from now on.
