Okay I have a video that I am done editing (Final Cut Express) but when I go to export it for youtube purposes, the video itself comes out squished! I am using the Canon HV30 recording in 60i and FCE. I have used this camera and FCE before but when I exported it the first time the video was wide screen (letterbox). I have exhausted my knowledge please help.
This is my first video (what I want)
Here is how it is coming out now. (my problem)

Export settings should allow choice of letterbox 16:9 or full frame 16:9. Your first picture is 16:9 letterbox in a 4:3 frame.
The second picture shows the full frame 16:9 as it is stored and transferred (e.g. as 720x480 or 1440x1080). It is the responsibility of the player or TV to stretch it horizontally to 16:9. Evidently, YouTube doesn't do 16:9 or you didn't flag it as 16:9.
A third option would be to encode 854x480 (square pixel 16:9) but that is non-standard. So go figure.Recommends: Kiva.org - Loans that change lives.
So how can I fix it? So you tube will recognize 16:9 and stretch out my footage?
Also how do I flag it so that it is recognized as 16:9 wide?
I think I fixed it, I made a new sequence and in easy setup I set it to DV-NTSC I transferred my edited footage there except when it asked me if I wanted to conform to the new timeline settings I selected NO, so now my video has the letterbox effect. I just need to export it to see if it really worked.
