    Hello everyone,
I recently recorded a video on my mac using the isight cam with the program evocam. I forgot to set the compression and it used a uyvy compression. I really need this video but I can't figure out how to play it. I have searched everywhere for a way to play the file but I can't figure it out. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If you're just looking to play it, perhaps VLC or one of the various mplayer GUIs might be able to handle it.

Thanks for the help. I tried both but neither seems to work.

Odd. As far as I've seen, both should be able to handle it. I'm not entirely sure whether VLC supports it (I haven't found a specific reference that says it does, yet), but according to this page at the mplayer site: http://www.mplayerhq.hu/DOCS/codecs-status.html ...it should. I don't know offhand whether the DivX/Xvid Quicktime components or Perian are able to decode it (I don't have any relevant videos around, to test. ).

Found this post from 2007 while I ran a quick web search for a uyvy Quicktime component, just to be sure:

The post second from the bottom also mentions having problems with uyvy, but that VLC and mplayer seem to work for that person.
