  1. Hey I'm currently looking for a video format i can convert my videos to that will play on all 4 formats. Kinda tired of having 2 different folders with the same files encoded in them. Basically i have my ps3 and my 360 hooked up to my home network media sharing. And naturally i have and ipod and a psp for my files on the go. I would appreciate any suggestions on format and program i can use. Most of the files i have now are xvid and mpeg 4 right now. Thanx.

The problem with this approach is that you have to encode for the lowest of the devices. What looks good on a small PSP or iPod screen won't look anywhere near as good on a bigger TV screen.

  3. You don't want to do that.

h264/aac in .mp4 container would be the common format, but ipod only supports the "baseline" AVC level which is pretty shabby quality. If you used that on the PS3/XBOX360 you'd be severely impairing the potential quality

    See our glossary for MP4.

Convert to IpoD MP4 with aac audio and h264 video. Use for example Xvid4PSP, load your video file, choose the ipod profile, convert, done. And it should work on all your systems.
