Hey guys!
Now I have heard alot about Norton Ghost and due to my bad luck with losing all my data I have been advised to use it.
I have now got myself a copy of Norton Ghost 14 only problem is......I dont have a clue what to do with it!
Now I tried doing a back up earlier and stored the backed up the data files onto my external western digital 320gb passport drive. The only problem is it seems to be taking up alot of space (basically the size of my laptop hard drive). Now I have read/heard that you can create an image that would have all software, media, drivers, setting etc on it, could anybody please help me with this?

disk-->image
select the source
select the destination disk
give it a name add the .gho to the end
select high
after finishing image creation
Check --> image
select the image you just created
select yes
it will tell you if it past or not
If it past, remove disk and reboot
If it doesn't, redo the steps above
Put image(s) in safe place -
Thanks stiltman but I think im being dumb! I cant seem to find the Disk-->image option!

Did you boot your PC from the CD?
If you're in windows, you can build a bootable floppy disk using the utilities.
Then again, how many people have floppy drives anymore. Last version I have is 10, so maybe they added a bootable CD option by now? -
No i didnt boot from the CD.
As you say stiltman most people dont have floopy drives and unfortunatly I am one of them!
When trying to do a back-up Ghost starts to create a recovery point but then stops due to an error, it comes up with Error EBAB03 F1:The Parament is incorrect. Unable to seek the specified offset. After I clicked close it continuted to back up everything else but still will not create a recovery point -

Sorry, I use the Enterprise ver10 and I don't use anything but ghost32.exe on a bootable winpxe (bartPE) disc. Or I use ghost.exe on the DOS CD disc
I've never used ghost while still in windows -
Seems like the error I am getting is because my WD passport is formatted in FAT32, so is it definitley advised to convert the drive to NTFS?
-
Yeah ghost can read and write to NTFS

BTW, the reason I switch to the 32bit version was to get around the 1tb HDD problem that the 16bit version has. Plus, if you only have USB keyboard and mouse with a USB drive, you have problems with the DOS boot 16bit version (no keyboard and mouse will be found)
