Another full of shit 'story' from another self-centered egoiste who thinks we're here to serve his stupid ass
Sooner or later you'll have different/another problem, and hopefully no one will reply to you, because *******s like you are the reason why there is more questions than people willing to answer on many boards.

    It started here:
My neighbor made several copies of an original home-made dvd (non-commercial). When
I play it on my dvd player I get an error message saying something like "playback CSS prohibited"
    and ended here

And for those of you who are still waiting for me to supply the exact error message...keep waiting
I'm a fair guy but that says it all.

    I'm outa here.

I find it interesting that 3 hours after Bjs points out there is a firmware issue with that model player, his parent's neighbor magically comes up with a "firmware adjustment" that fixes the problem. Coincidence ?

Someone copying rented movie is stealing it.
If you see the difference between physical theft of a shrink-wrapped DVD from the store and copying a rented DVD you must be a lawyer yourself - because the difference between them is probably in the fees lawyer can get
It is that type of logic that defines an 18-year-old guy sleeping with his 17yr & 364 day girlfriend as a rapist.

It is not "scumbag language", but simple truth. Even the FBI warnings deem it copyright infringement.

Theft = depriving of a physical item (physical theft of a shrink-wrapped DVD from the store)
Copyright infringement = unauthorized copying of copyrighted material (copying a rented DVD)
