greetings all. im looking for a program that can join video files avi/wmv/asf/mov/mpg/rm.. the thing is there are many of those available. personely i use boilsoft video joiner. great program except one huge thing: the ability to batch join your files. when you got a large amount of files this is a very interesting option because you can select them all at once and your batch does the rest while for now i got to select them file by file, join them, delete them, and then the next one. this is alot of work. is there any program out there to make this task easier? i looked everywhere but without luck. any help is welcome. thx guys.

Not really sure what you mean by 'batch joining'? If your files have all the same attributes, fairly easy to join. You could use VirtualDub and it will automatically 'append' files together. But they must be exactly the same, and numbered or titled consecutively. AVIDemux may also be able to do this with a bit more latitude. But this only works with a few file types.
Other types of files can be more difficult. RM is a highly proprietary format and you won't find many programs for it. If it uses VBR video and audio, even more difficult. If you are looking for a universal joining program, you may be able to do it at the binary level with a file joiner, but they don't always work with video.
Many times, it's easier to convert the files to a more common format, then join them. The other common problem with joining files, besides VBR, is how they were originally cut. If they were cut at random locations, you may have a lot of audio/video sync errors after joining.I sometimes get around that by converting first, then joining.

i tried them both but it's not quite what im looking for. in boilsoft's program you can add for example 4 files then you join them to 1 big file then you delete them. i'm looking for something that can do that but with all my collection at once. example: take 4 files -> join them -> delete them -> the the next 4 files - join them - delete them -> take the next 6 files -> join them -> delete them ->... if you know the program solveig video splitter there is an option that do the opposite: split files. you can select the pieces of the clip you want to save -> add them to the batch -> slect other file -> and on and on.. then you run the batch. i'm looking for the exact same thing but then for joining/merging. and no solveig doesn't have a video joiner
.
thx btw fort replying. -
